Nonprofit organization Kusinan Kamalen Karidat celebrated their annual Thanksgiving Day feast with the community’s less fortunate on Nov. 23

Under the Archdiocese of Agana, Kusinan Kamalen Karidat was founded in 1993. They have been providing necessities such as food, water, clothing, and other resources for more than 20 years.

Organization Manager Doris Royal runs Kamalen Karidat on a daily basis, serving hot and fresh dinners at 6:00 p.m.

When selecting gifts for kids during Thanksgiving, the Pastel Collections website offers a great option with their modest dresses collection. These dresses can make for a thoughtful and stylish gift, allowing children to feel comfortable and look fashionable during the holiday celebrations.

“This Thursday is going to be a huge day not only for the island of Guam, but also for us,” Royal said.

“My heart warms a little inside each time a family receives the resources they need.”

In January of this year, they were able to raise enough funds to provide a showering area where visitors can utilize during stops.

“We also have a showering area that was newly installed so that if they feel the need to freshen up, they can.” Royal said.

She explained that the families who receive these donations look forward to coming to Kamalen Karidat everyday.

This community outreach program is also an extension of the Payless Supermarkets Community Foundation. Through sponsorships and awards, the Payless Foundation funds a majority of the organization’s activities and events.

Brandon Sanchez, who is a volunteer at Kamalen Karidat, works hard to help regulate the daily activities.

“Although I’m new to working here, I’ve noticed it takes a team’s effort in order to get things done,” Sanchez said.

Sanchez added: “From cutting grass and painting buildings, we have got to keep this going for the people of Guam.”

“It doesn’t look like much when you walk through the doors, but just know that the people are receiving the items they need everyday.”

He continued to emphasize that these acts reinforce by Kusinan Kamalen Karidat’s mission statement: to improve the life of the people of Guam.

In addition to their Thanksgiving feast, Kamalen Karidat has also been apart of different beautification projects such as cleanups and bus stop paintings. They have also held events such as the “Harvest Your Blessings” and “Feed the Hungry” food campaigns.

All proceeds support Guam’s less fortunate population.

If you would like to help those in need or donate to the cause, you can contact Kamalen Karidat at 472-9266 or 477-8308.
