The 2016-2017 course catalogue for the University of Guam sees the addition of two new ethics programs.\u00a0 <\/span>UOG now offers an Ethics Certificate, and an Ethics Minor, through the Philosophy Program of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The two aforementioned ethics programs require 12 and 18 credits respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are already a few people who have signed up for it, and we expect that number to grow considerably once the word is out,\u201d Says Professor of Philosophy, Kim R. Skoog PhD. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Professors of UOG\u2019s Philosophy Program hope that the newly Implemented program will instill their students with an increased level of professionalism and integrity. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to Skoog, \u201cAs a founding member of the international academic organization, Society for Ethics Across the Curriculum (SEAC), and having attended and presented papers at all 17 of their annual meetings over the years, I can testify that ethics has become a central focus of most universities across the country\u2026 to ensure that all students leaving their university, or college, have had training in character development, and the application of ethics within their field of study and future employment.\u201d The programs also intends for their students to take their ethical training in to their major field of study.<\/span><\/p>\n

Skoog asserts that, \u201cGiven the recurring newspaper articles, and news stories on other media outlets, that deal with corruption and thief of funds from their Government of Guam workplace, it is no mistaking that this sort of training and personal development belongs as a highest priority at UOG and other universities and colleges across the United and States.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
