The Dancing Earth indigenous dance company will speak and perform at the University of Guam
\nFine Arts Theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Humanities Gu\u00e5han is sponsoring the event.<\/p>\n

Rulan Tangen, the company\u2019s director and choreographer, will headline the program.<\/p>\n

The dance production will feature a total of seven performers showcasing Dancing Earth\u2019s grand
\nmission of revitalizing appreciation for the biocultural diversity of Native Americans.<\/p>\n

The 30-minute performance will be preceded by a panel discussion led by Tangen at 7 p.m.,
\nwhich will focus on the role of women and dance in the perpetuation of indigenous art within a
\ncontemporary landscape.<\/p>\n

Recognized as one of the country\u2019s premier intertribal dance ensembles, Dancing Earth has
\ntraveled across the nation in efforts to bring greater awareness to the issues, triumphs and
\ncreative spirit of indigenous communities. Their previous programs have explored themes of
\nanimism, nature and decolonization.<\/p>\n

Tuesday\u2019s show is among the several stops scheduled in Dancing Earth\u2019s weeklong tour around
\nGuam, which includes a HITA presentation at the Guam Museum on Thursday, Oct. 12, and a
\nperformance at Humanities Gu\u00e5han\u2019s benefit dinner on Saturday, Oct. 14.<\/p>\n
