On Aug. 20, reggae pop fusion band, MAGIC!<\/em> performed to a jam-packed event at the Leo Palace Resort Belvedere Hotel ballroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlanning took two months, unfortunately, with the storm prior to the concert the venue had to be relocated,\u201d said Tiffany Tam McCarroll, the media director at Tropical Productions Inc.<\/p>\n

Because the venue was in a smaller setting, McCarroll said it gave the audience a close and intimate proximity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want concert-goers to have a safe and enjoyable setting, closer to the stars,\u201d added McCarroll.<\/p>\n

With the change of venue, the ticket sales sold out fast.<\/p>\n

Christopher Lizama, a former University of Guam student attended the concert. With a sold out concert and a smaller venue, Lizama said the concert was crowded.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver on social media, people were upset tickets were sold, but the concert was amazing,\u201d said the 23-year-old.<\/p>\n

As for the music, the band played hits from their recent album, \u201cDon\u2019t Kill The Magic.\u201d Songs such as \u201cLet Your Hair Down,\u201d \u201cNo Way No,\u201d and the popular hit song, \u201cRude,\u201d to close the show. They also played covers songs and gave the audience a preview of their new song, \u201cSunday Funday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lizama felt that turnout was good, however, he felt that the opening acts were longer than MAGIC!<\/em> itself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opening acts were good too, but it took a while for MAGIC!<\/em> to actually play,\u201d said Lizama.<\/p>\n

The songs played are related to the audience. It was infused with pop and reggae. They were influenced by English rock band, The Police.<\/p>\n

Social media influenced the hype and excitement of the band. Announcements appearing in social media reported the band was coming to play on Guam in the summer.<\/p>\n

McCarroll feels that social media were a big help with ticket sales among the college audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe spread the word out to college students, with the use of social media, we draw big events targeted towards them,\u201d said McCarroll.<\/p>\n

The members of MAGIC!<\/em> are from Toronto, Canada in just a few days they were acculturated with Guam \u2013 from trying local foods and visiting Guam\u2019s beaches.<\/p>\n

McCarroll said they had a good time here on Guam, although it was a short stay. \u201cThey went bowling and swimming.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for future events, Tropical Productions Inc. has more events for us in store. \u201cWe produce concerts, comedy shows, and festivals,\u201d said McCaroll.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
