This event allowed UOG students to get familiar with English organizations, advisors and professors and encourages other students to declare and graduate with an English degree.

Attendees had the opportunity to network with fellow English majors, minors and staff members, and learn more about what this degree has to offer.

“This is the first English meet n’ greet I’ve attended and being able to participate as a new TES member was a really fun experience,” said UOG student Kristin Cruz.

Professors did table outreach advising on the benefits of each English major emphasis such as Education, Linguistics, Writing and their requirements.

Students were also able to sign up for the book club and learn about publishing opportunities through storyboard at the club organizations and writing table.

“I appreciate how the English department makes an effort to open up to the rest of the UOG community each year and share what it’s like to be English majors or writing minors,” Cruz said.

The event was engaging and interactive. Professors and advisors were set up around six different tables dedicated to informing aspiring and interested students.

“I think it’s really important to try to make other students aware of what our program is like so that hopefully they will switch over or declare as English majors,” Cruz said.
