Guam\u2019s first Korean Festival will take place on Sept. 22, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Ypao Beach Park.<\/p>\n

The Korean Association of Guam will be sponsoring the event, which is open to the general public.<\/p>\n

Those attending can expect to experience Korea\u2019s culture through food and music.<\/p>\n

The event features a hands-on preparation of kimchi to the first 200 attendees.<\/p>\n

The event will also feature performances by Korean traditional performers and K-pop music dancers will be performing live on stage.<\/p>\n

According to Thomas Son, director of culture for the Korean Association of Guam, a handful of Korean migrants started the organization in 1975.<\/p>\n

Every year, the Korean community celebrates \u201cChuseok,\u201d which literally translates to \u201cAutumn Eve.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a major harvest festival and holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar on the full moon,\u201d Son said.<\/p>\n
