The University of Guam\u2019s American Marketing Association hosted their Halloween party on Friday, Oct. 5 at the Globe Ultra Lounge in Tumon. \u00a0The event\u2019s theme this year was \u201cDay of The Dead\u201d, a two-day long celebration originating from Mexico meant to be full of color and joy to demonstrate love and respect for deceased family members.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event ran from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m with long lines before the start of the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

This event was open to the public and organizers pre-sold tickets starting at $12 and $15 at the door. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Party goers dressed up in their favorite costumes ranging from the Pok\u00e9mon, Pikachu, to the classic zombie, and even Playboy bunnies. Some also showed up with creative masks that were applied by paint. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the early hours of the night, there were competitions for best original costume, couple costume and group costume. <\/span><\/p>\n

Some were dressed as pirates and others as nurses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anthony Asebias, a first- time attendant of the event, said, \u201cI wish I knew about this event last year. The vibe is really great and the music is lit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Asebias also commended AMA for working hard and in planning and organizing the event. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no doubt I will attend if they have this next year,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/p>\n

With the night slowly transitioning into early morning, the club was filled close to its maximum capacity. The DJ\u2019s music created a positive atmosphere, and attendees danced the night away to beats ranging from hip hop, EDM, and rnb. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Angel Malasarte, secretary of UOG\u2019s AMA, was satisfied with the overall event despite its challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Malasarte continued to comment on the event overall as she gave her team recognition for their hard work.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event also attracted tourists from Japan and Korea, who arrived dressed in costumes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Manaka Sasaki from Japan said she was very impressed with the event. She was surprised with the amount of people that attended the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Photo booths and face make-up were also available upon entering the club.<\/span><\/p>\n

Drink specials for Budlight, Patron, and Bacardi are available as well. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This annual event has seen increasing numbers of attendees in the past years. Past attendants of this event continue to show their support to the AMA by attending the annual event.<\/span><\/p>\n

The American Marketing Association, University of Guam Chapter, was established in 1996 under the supervision of current advisor, Terrie O’Brien (Associate Professor of Marketing) according to their Facebook page.<\/span><\/p>\n

AMA\u2019s mission is \u201cTo allow members to apply marketing skills in and out of the classroom and to increase the awareness of marketing’s importance in business and in life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The organization works with local businesses and has many of its alumni holding various positions in Guam\u2019s business.<\/span><\/p>\n
