The University of Guam community and island dignitaries celebrated another successful improvement at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the University of Guam Calvo Field House on Oct. 8.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The University of Guam\u2019s Field house was newly renovated with a restored 24, 000-square-foot wood floor, new window shades, and an energy-efficient air condition system. There are also railing systems that comply to the Americans with Disabilities Act or ADA. A new door was also installed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThe centerpiece of this of course is the new bleachers,\u201d UOG President Robert Underwood said. This highlighting feature was displayed during the ceremony. The Field House bleachers are now retracted automatically by a remote control.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The renovated seats are now more comfortable and safer for spectators during graduations, concerts, sport competitions and other events usually held at the Field House.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This has been the second ribbon-cutting ceremony at the same location regarding renovations on the University campus. The Field House renovation was the second part of a $3 million two-phase project funded by UOG and the Department of Interior.<\/p>\n
