Biological Sciences Club sponsors haunted house

The University of Guam’s Biological Sciences Club is hosting its 12th annual haunted house at the UOG Science Building on Saturday Oct. 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and Sunday Oct. 25, from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

This year’s theme is “American Horror Story,” the renowned FX television series. The series included five different seasons: “Murder House,” “Asylum,” “Coven,” “Freak show,” and “Hotel.”

“We are trying our hardest to incorporate the same level of gore and questionable characters from each of the seasons into our haunted house to provide a variety of thrills that our participants will never forget,” said Enrika Espiritu, public relations officer for the club.

The haunted house is usually located the UOG Science Building. This time, it will include several rooms on two floors and guests will be led through dark hallways.

The Biology Club first started this Halloween tradition since Fall 2004. This haunted house continues to bring in many curious guests from all over the island.

The Biology Club is the main student organization that hosts the haunted house. Volunteers come from the club itself. This year there will be more volunteers from the other clubs such as, the Chemistry, IFC, and SCIO. It takes about five weeks to prepare for the event. Volunteers help with ticket sales, advertising, and set-up.

“Our volunteers work really hard to make every second memorable for our participants, from the first hour of set up Friday afternoon to the last hour of breakdown Sunday evening. We do a good job of ‘hiding the evidence’ as though no blood was spilt and no screams occurred come Monday morning.” Espiritu adds.

Pre-sold tickets cost $3 and tickets bought at the door cost $5.
