Guam Visitors Bureau hosts a once in a lifetime K-Pop Opportunity

On December 1, 2018, thousands of locals and tourists gathered at Governor Joseph F. Flores Memorial for a free Korean pop (or K-pop) concert.

The concert featuring K-pop artists such as HUB, Supernova, Mighty Mouth, JBJ95, and K-pop girl group sensation Twice.

The event was sponsored by the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) in collaboration with MBC, a major broadcasting network in Korea.

The K-pop concert began at 7 p.m., but they opened the gates at 4 p.m., allowing guests to visit various concession stands selling food and drinks.

Reuben Bugarin, an undergraduate studying Business Administration at the University of Guam, has been interning that GVB for almost two months.

During the concert, Bugarin worked under the information booth and escorted VIPs.

As a fan of K-pop, Bugarin was excited about the concert, “Although I was not familiar with the other artists, I still wanted to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity!”

As people on Guam become more aware of K-pop, this K-pop concert will act as  a milestone for future concerts to come.

“I’m looking forward to more artists coming and performing on island.”
