Judy Flores hosts upcoming batik painting workshop this October

Judy Flores will host a batik painting workshop on Saturday Oct. 10. The event will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in-person at Flores’s Batik Studio.

Flores will guide participants through an afternoon of constructing items such as scarves, suncatchers and banners.

All pieces during the workshop will be formed through batik, a technique of creating designs by dyeing on textures and then waxing areas meant to remain undyed.

The cost to attend the workshop is $55. This includes items used towards four different projects.

Flores, who hosts workshops from her garden studio in Inarajan, is a retired advisory president and historian for Historic Inalahan Foundation, Inc.

Much of her life’s work has centered around the revitalization of the CHamoru culture and encouraging young artists on Guam to further their talents.

Judy’s Batik Studio is located on in Tonggan Way St. in Inarajan.

Tickets are available for purchase through the event page posted by the Guam Batik Gallery on Eventbrite.
