Nissan Guam Achieves World Record

Nissan Guam made it into the Guinness Book of World Records on Nov. 3 by gathering together the most cars ever into a motorcade.

Nissan Guam achieved the record with 321 cars that participated in their world record attempt, beating the previous record of 250 cars.

October 31, Nissan had about 157 cars registered.  It was not until Friday and Saturday that the bulk of the participants registered. Even on the morning of the event, more participants showed up and registered.

“We want Guam to be involved in the Guinness Book of World Records,” says Marlon Lacson, the Assistant Sales Manager at Team Nissan Motor Corp Guam. “We want to put Nissan as brand for cars all over the world.” When asked about his hopes for the event.

Doug Baker, a participant in the event, also expressed his high hopes for the record. “It would be really neat to be involved in setting a world record.”

Another participant, Joe Boldwin compared this record attempt to a previous record holder in Texas. “They only had about 250 cars.” said Joe Boldwin.  “But by the way I see these cars pulling up this morning, we will definitely beat the record.”

Participants gathered at 10 am at the John F. Kennedy High School. Nissan had a checkpoint setup so that every car that pulled into the parking lot was counted. At 11 am the cars rolled out onto the road with the escort of police vehicles and headed to Paseo. For those who have been involved in a car accident, DUI or speeding traffic lawyers Melbourne can help you getting out of troubles.

The school’s parking lot was filled with the sound of the engines revving and honking. It was not until 30 minutes after the first car left the parking lot that every car made its way out of the JFK’s parking lot. Once the last car left, the Nissan employees and volunteers cheered with celebration of the new record.

The motorcade reached all the way from John F. Kennedy High School to Paseo Park in a single lane.

The police directed traffic and every intersection to make sure the motorcade was uninterrupted with only Nissan cars.

The cars all made it to Paseo park where each individual car was counted as they pulled into the parking lot. The environment was cheerful as the participants celebrated their world record achievement. Those attending participated raffles held by the Nissan group with gifts such as a $1,000 voucher from United Airlines.

Nissan Guam now has to submit the recorded data, which includes video evidence and official eyewitnesses, to the Guinness Book of World Records to be evaluated.

Nissan had every participant of the event register online, with a $10 fee. Some of the proceeds went to Guam Girl Scouts and Catholic Social services. Nissan also offered T-Shirts to the first 370 registered people.
