On Oct. 8, Triton’s Call will be going in its fiftieth year.

The first issue was published on Oct. 8, 1965 with its first editor, Ron Archibald.

As part of the celebration, the University of Guam Communication Society and Lamda Pi Eta (Alpha Beta Eta Chapter) will be hosting an event.

The “Triton’s Call 50th Birthday” will include a balloon drop event.

Balloons are filled with “golden” tickets and cash.

Balloons will be thrown from the second floor English and Communications building and attendees are asked to pop the balloons to claim a prize.

The event is open to the public.

Golden tickets are numbered to match a prize that include: Crowns Guam gear, Bank of Guam gift sets, Tango Theaters gift certificates, UOG gear, and more. Cake will also be served.
