Triton’s Collective is UOG’s first collegiate dance team.

Since its inception in Fall 2018, Triton’s Collective has participated in a number of performances, ranging from the Guam Dance Community concert, to high school events, and invited dance competitions.

To members of the team, the word “collective” means to build a community with anyone and everyone who enjoys the art of dance.

TC treasurer, Evander De Guzman, said, “TC was one of the best opportunities for me to take advantage of before I graduated. It’s actually my first-time doing dance for a dance group or anything at all.”

Former TC secretary Jasmine Jamero said she only wished the team had a better opportunity to not only perform, but also look like like a team in uniform, due to insufficient funds.

In the past, members have used their own money to purchase uniforms for the team.

As for the near future, the team hopes to gain enough funds to purchase mirrors. “Of course, we’re still grateful for the facilities given to us, but mirrors will help us see how we move, and we can better ourselves as a group,” said Hannah Mangrobang, current TC president.

The club is looking into future fundraisers to help them achieve their goal of gaining mirrors and uniforms for its members.

Triton’s Collective has been anything but inactive since its establishment and UOG students could expect more from them in the near future, Mangrobang said.
