UOG’s AMA hosts Halloween event

The University of Guam’s American Marketing Association hosted their Halloween party on Friday, Oct. 5 at the Globe Ultra Lounge in Tumon.  The event’s theme this year was “Day of The Dead”, a two-day long celebration originating from Mexico meant to be full of color and joy to demonstrate love and respect for deceased family members.

The event ran from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m with long lines before the start of the event.

This event was open to the public and organizers pre-sold tickets starting at $12 and $15 at the door.

Party goers dressed up in their favorite costumes ranging from the Pokémon, Pikachu, to the classic zombie, and even Playboy bunnies. Some also showed up with creative masks that were applied by paint.

In the early hours of the night, there were competitions for best original costume, couple costume and group costume.

Some were dressed as pirates and others as nurses.

Anthony Asebias, a first- time attendant of the event, said, “I wish I knew about this event last year. The vibe is really great and the music is lit.”

Asebias also commended AMA for working hard and in planning and organizing the event.

“There’s no doubt I will attend if they have this next year,” he said.

With the night slowly transitioning into early morning, the club was filled close to its maximum capacity. The DJ’s music created a positive atmosphere, and attendees danced the night away to beats ranging from hip hop, EDM, and rnb.

Angel Malasarte, secretary of UOG’s AMA, was satisfied with the overall event despite its challenges.

Malasarte continued to comment on the event overall as she gave her team recognition for their hard work.

The event also attracted tourists from Japan and Korea, who arrived dressed in costumes.

Manaka Sasaki from Japan said she was very impressed with the event. She was surprised with the amount of people that attended the event.

Photo booths and face make-up were also available upon entering the club.

Drink specials for Budlight, Patron, and Bacardi are available as well.

This annual event has seen increasing numbers of attendees in the past years. Past attendants of this event continue to show their support to the AMA by attending the annual event.
