The University of Guam’s 28th Annual Regional Language Arts Conference is scheduled on Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 at the Hyatt Regency Guam.

The chairs of LAC invite educators, administrators, and students to attend, present, or conduct workshops.

This year’s theme is “Literacy for the Content Areas: Effective Educators and Lifelong Learning.”

On Friday, Nov. 20, the conference will begin at 4p.m. with opening remarks, a plenary session, and one breakout session consisting of various workshops. The next day, Nov. 21, will start from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with more presentations and workshops.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Kevin Colleary. He is an author for McGraw Hill Education and an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the Graduate School of Education at Fordham University in New York.

“We encourage students who are interested in teaching to attend and even present their ideas and perspectives on promoting literacy on all content areas,” said Chris Garcia, Ph.D., one of the four LAC chair members.

Registration fees are $30 for students, $45 for IRA members, and $55 for non-IRA members. After November 6 the price increases, $55 for IRA members and $70 for non-IRA members.
